I am out of ideas, so I will just ramble about things you ought to now here in the beer country.

On the vodafone website, enter vodafone park, and if you are a client, then just sign with your facebook account, and start texting all other vodafone people for free from your computer. If you are not a client, go to the end of the page and click Poslat SMS z Parku bez registrace to send sms for free to the vodafones. Life sucks because, for some reason, you chose T-mobile or O2? Do not fear mates, enter this website and text whoever the hell you want! Also for free of course This last site has already let me down sometimes, but hey, its for free…

There is a NGO in Prague that organises voluntary activities on some weekends, it consists of going to some place in the middle of nowhere on Friday, help out on Saturday and come back on Sunday after breakfast. You get to know places you wouldn’t know otherwise and volunteer for a good cause. There is a fee, but you get paid one way ticket and food is provided, so its practically for free.

In Tesco, you can save money by checking the almost expired products, such as cheese and vegetables. You can buy them for real cheap, and in proper conditions. And cheese… the older the better anyway

Ever bought red wine in Prague? Amazing right? Not even to cook. In Husitská street, in Žižkov, number 60 or so, there is a place called Edy Market that sells French wine for 55kc. It wont be top Bordeaux, but it will beat the hell out of any Frankovka every day of the week. In front of that same store there is a beer shop that sells bee from all over Czech Republic. You can make a tour de beer without leaving the spot you chose to ravage all the beer

Of course that, if you take the train to Mělnik, the red wine costs 50kc a litre and its really good. But when in Prague… live like a Pražak!

by this time most of you must be wondering “what else is in Prague”? You have been in the centre, you have been close to the centre, and still its like you always end up in the same places, right? Well, that is normal, Prague is not that big, and one tends to follow crowds.

Still, I found most of my favourite places after being here quite a while, and some by mistake, some by advise. So let me repay

In Jindřišská, number 5, there is a passage with shady looking restaurants, an exchange office, and a foot massage place. In front of the exchange office there is a sort of small square with a door and few doorbells. Ring where it says ČÍTÁRNA, and wait for the door to open. Ten climb up to the 4th floor. Is it a brothel? A drug trade flat? Nop, its the house of Unijzazz, and NGO that provide alternative culture to those wanting it. The Čítárna is a reading place, not the kind of place where you to drink until you are blind, but the place where you go, you can even sometimes put your own CD, have a beer or two, check your mail, have some shots and get ready for the night at very nice prices in a friendly atmosphere. Local rules apply though, be fair or be square. Get also in touch with festivals, concerts and theatre plays.

The beer museum in Dlouha street and bukowskis in Žiźkov are perhaps the most famous amongst expats and foreigners. Everyone speaks English, and no one will think that you are that different, even if you would be a cannibal.  But this info you can get everywhere, and we you to find here what you cannot find anywhere else

So in Tynská street, 6, just outside the old town square, you find the literární kavárna or literary café. Beer at a fair price, in the centre, with wi-fi? The best. Plus there is a cool courtyard, where sits the oldest building in Prague. Of course that now it is freaking cold for that, but just so you know. I know its the second literary place, but that is who I am, an intellectual

A place offering good coffee, good beer, and some healthier snacks is the dobrá trafika. Trafika is the place where to sell cigarettes and the news, but this guys took it  step further and made it a coffeshop as well,  with a garden. There are two, one near Náměstí Míru and other in Újezd. Both are cool.

Also very frequented a lot by foreigners, is the Duende. I personally think it sucks, and its a shithole, but each one to its own. Do try it, and take a gas mask when you go there. Around that same area, there are two more: one is Krásný ztráty. Meaning something like, The Beautiful Lost, the truth is that I got lost the first 5 times I went there. It is a bit more poshy, but the place is really nice. The second is Atmosphere, where a lot of groups go to get wasted. Although pretty close to shitty places for tourists, this places are frequented mainly by locals, and they are pretty cool.

In the end, nothing beats this: gather some blokes, and perform a rally. Consisting of choosing a neighbourhood of Prague (I advise the upper part of Žižkov) and have a small beer in every place that seems “walkable”. You enter, everyone has a small beer, and you all piss off somewhere else. Best way to find new places! I leave you with this website, so that you can start making your own plans for rally-tascas!

Not necessarily, fortunately you can see pretty much everything for free, if either keep your eyes open, speak Czech, read this, or know me

Muzeum hlavního města Prahy (Museum of Prague -  The main building, located at Na Poříčí 52, 180 00 Praha 8, offers to his visitors every Thursday entrance for 10 Kč. If you’re a student,  the price goes down to 0 (zero) This building offers, amongs other things, a unique exhibition of Langweils model of Prague. And this, my friends, its fucking insane. It’s what I call having too much time on your hands. Seriously though, read it, amazing.

Národní zemědělské muzeum (The National Museum of Agriculture), has its doors open every first Wednesday of the month  from 13.00 to 17.00 completely for free in all branches. I’ve always wanted to see the statue of Mr Cucumber…

Armádní muzeum Žižkov (The Army Museum Žižkov) has a great policy: it’s free the whole year! You can take a picture in front of a tank without taking the risk of having the cannon up your nose. If you’re more into planes, then you go to the Letecké muzeum Kbely (The Aviation Museum Kbely), also for free, all the time.

A personal favorite is the Muzeum Pražského Jezulátka (Muzeum of Prague’s Infant Jesus), which not only confirms that Jesus exists, it also confirms that there was even a Czech one. Since Czech is an atheist country, my guess is that he failed here. For free every year, and of course you can donate, so Ratzinger doesn’t have to find a part time job.

Lobkowiczký palác (I swear there’s a beer with this name) its for free every first Wednesday of the month, although I couldnt confirm this info. Sorry for that.

Plynárenské muzeum, some sort of gas Museum in Prague, is also open for free the hole year. Do not smoke, light fire, or fart inside the facility.

Leica Gallery always offers very interesting photographic exhibitions, for the single price of a coffee at their coffee shop. Meaning that you can order a coffee and see the exhibition.

Národní památník na Vítkově, although it doesn’t offer a free entry, has an open coffee shop where you can go for free, and the place is simply amazing, worth a visit.

Unfortunately, a lot of Museums cancelled their free entry at the first whatever day of the month policy. Money talks.

Still try to get the ArtMap (or check the website), there are always interesting propositions for exhibitions, usually for free on the first day, sometimes een with free wine (win win ).

I will try to confirm some more places.
