Zizkov TV Tower – Panorama Sightseen

10/03/2010

When the sun is shining, the sky is blue and you have no idea what to do, why not enjoy a great panoramic sight seen of Prague?

One of the best spots to do it is the Ziskov TV Tower, where you can find a different 360 degree perspective of the city.

We won’t describe its history but you can find it straight away in wikipedia. Nevertheless to say, the tower is definitely an unmistakable Prague landmark which can be seen from almost every point of the city mainly because of  its 216 meters tall.

Offering a panoramic view of the city and Central Bohemia from 93 m above ground, on a clear day, one can see to a distance of up to 100 km/60 miles.

So if you have guests, or your parents are here, that’s it! You will all be happy and can even enjoy a lower sight at the restaurant/cafe just above the observation deck 🙂

Opening hours: Daily 10.00 – 23.30 (restaurant 11.00 – 23.00)
Admission: Full 150 Kč, family 120 Kč, students 120 Kč, children (6-14) 60 Kč

Directions:
The closest stops are metro station and tram stop Jiriho z Podebrad (metro green line A and tram no. 11). From the city centre you can also go by tram no. 9 to stop Lipanska.

TIP: The metal babies you see crawling the tower are a work of art made in 2000 by the well known Czech artist David Černý the author of Entropa. You can find another Cerny’s babies in other part of Prague, Kampa Island.

Golden Star – The Best Sports Bar in Prague?

11/02/2010

Do you love sports? No clue where to watch your local or national team game?

Located in the city center, only 3 minutes walk from Wenscelau Square, Zlata Hvezda or Golden Star in English, was the first sports bar in the Czech Republic (founded in 1993).

Hvezda has a wide option of screenings every single day of the week and all competitions have their own space – The English Premiership, Rugby, NFL, MLB, International Football Matches and of course the European Champions League! 😉

More than a sports bar, even though is located in the city center, Hvezda also has great and affordable prices on the food menu.  We definitely love their hamburgers and well, the drink prices are a plus that you should consider on Mondays when the Czech beer costs only 16 Czech crowns for 0,5L 😀

Back to the sports… Note that reservations are necessary for most of the big games, to do  it on-line, visit their website and make sure you arrive earlier to guarantee your place.
